The Change of Condition of stay can be requested by a foreigner who wishes to reside temporarily or permanently in Mexico, this according to the condition of stay that he has initially obtained, so some of the existing modalities for the Change of Stay Condition
Change to Temporary Resident for
Family Bond
It is obtained when a foreigner with the status of a visitor or temporary resident student who wishes to reside in Mexico shows, before the INM, that he or she has a family relationship (being a father, mother, child, spouse or common-law partner) with a foreign person with temporary residence, current permanent residence or with a Mexican.
Change from Student Temporary Resident to Temporary Resident
It is obtained when a foreigner with the status of temporary resident student, receives a job offer, with the understanding that the employer must previously obtain his / her proof of registration from the employer before the INM.
Change to Permanent Resident by Family Bond
It is obtained when a foreigner with the condition of stay as a visitor or temporary resident, wishes to reside permanently in Mexico, proving to the INM that he / she has a family relationship (being a father, mother, child, spouse, common-law partner) or minor siblings) with a Mexican or foreign person with the status of permanent resident stay. In the case of a spouse or common-law partner, it must be proven that they have had two years of regular stay in the national territory.
Change from temporary resident to permanent resident
It is obtained when a foreigner with the condition of temporary resident stay and who wishes to reside in Mexico permanently demonstrates, before the INM, that he is retired or retired and receives from abroad sufficient resources to live in the country, or to have lived in Mexico during 4 years with the condition of temporary resident stay.
