Residency through family ties with a Mexican: spouse, children and family unit

Marrying a Mexican citizen does not grant immediate permanent residency: the spouse enters as a temporary resident for two years and only then becomes a permanent resident, while the parents, children, and grandparents of a Mexican citizen by birth obtain direct permanent residency. We explain the entry process for each family member, the two paths to the application, and the documents required by the INM (National Institute of Migration).
